About 2FA & TOTP

• TOTP (RFC 6238) derives a short-lived code from a shared secret key and the current time, so the same key always gives the same code at the same moment.

• Works with codes for Google, GitHub, Microsoft, AWS, Binance and any service that supports authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator, Authy or 1Password.

• Handy when your phone is not at hand, or to check that a secret is correct while setting up 2FA. If codes are rejected, make sure your device clock is accurate.

• Treat the secret key like a password: anyone who has it can generate your codes. Only use this tool on a device you trust.
